CLEARING AND CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS
You should clear and cleanse your crystals before doing any healing work, as well as periodic cleaning to maintain their positive energy. Common methods of cleansing crystals typically involve using one of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water. Again, use your intuition to choose the method that is best for you.
Crystal Cluster
Place your crystal on a crystal cluster such as amethyst for 24 hours. You can also surround your crystal with clear quartz points for 24 hours.
Earth Burial
Bury your crystals in the earth for 24-72 hours. Make sure you mark the spot so you know where they are!
Flower Water
Soak your crystals in water with petals of flowers such as honeysuckle, jasmine, orange blossoms, rose etc for 24 hours.
Incense or Smudge Stick
Hold the crystal and pass it through the smoke of incense or smudge stick such as sage, sweetgrass, cedar, sandalwood or frankincense. I prefer this method because it’s quick and safe for all crystals. Native Americans and Africans have used this method for centuries.
Salt Water
Soak crystals in salt water made with 1 teaspoon to 3 tablespoons sea salt to 1-cup water. Place the stones in a glass container in cool water and make sure the stones are covered with the water. Soak the stones up to 24 hours. There are several crystals that should not be used in placed in salt water. These include calcite, carnelian, labradorite, lepidolite, molivate, opal, turquoise and ulexite.
Sea Salt
Bury crystals in sea salt for 7-24 hours and then rinse them in pure mineral or spring water.
Sea & Sun
Use this ancient method of clearing by bringing your crystals to the sea and allowing the water to wash over them. Then energize them by placing them in sunlight.
Sun or Moonlight
Place your crystals in the sun or moonlight for 24-48 hours. Be careful because some crystals such as amethyst, celestite, opal and turquoise may fade in the sunlight. However, I love watching my crystals bask in the sunlight. It’s also wonderful to cleanse your crystals with the full moon energy.
Sound
Use the vibration of pure sound from a bell or tuning fork for cleansing your crystals.
Visualization
Hold the crystal in your hands and imagine that you are surrounding it with visualized white or gold light. Set your intent to transform all negative energy into positive energy. You may also take a deep breath and blow over the crystal. Imagine that you are clearing away any negative or unwanted energy. Repeat this process until you feel the crystal is cleansed.
